- Okay. Well, I'm on my way.
- This streamlined beauty is a ghost collector. And for a limited time only, you can have one. All you have to do is go catch me some ghosts!
- Ghost collector? How does it work?
- What is that thing on the ground next to you?
- I think I'm going to pass.
- Point and click. The collectors are idiot-proof. When the ghost is subdued, press the last button to suck it in. The ghost flies into the temporary receptacle.
- Happy to help. I'm not afraid of ghosts!
- That there's my handy work. It's made of a special iron alloy. Ghosts can't pass through it. We have an enormous version of it back in Exterminatus. This one is just for transport. The other one's too heavy to carry this far.
- How do I capture essences?
- I guess I'll go bust some ghost head!
- You'll have to ask Fizzleban about that. All I know is that it has something to do with asuran gate tech, and it zaps the weakened ghost essence into this here temporary receptacle.
- Temporary receptacle?
- What do I do?
- I think I'll leave you to it.
- Hey there! You should think about helping us test this handy device. I promise it'll be fun.
- I don't know. I'm not big on testing.
- I can help. What's the device?
- Not interested. I'm leaving.
- It's perfectly safe. This ghost collector sucks up the essence of a ghost and locks it inside an iron receptacle. It can't come back if it can't get out. One less ghost means a happy Jenk.
- How does it work?
- I think I'm going to leave now. Good luck.
- Ah! I've got a new invention that captures a ghost's essence and keeps them from ever coming back. I just need someone to field test it. You game?
- Lucky me, I've already got one to use. I'm in!
- I can do that. Let me at them!
- That sounds complicated. I'd rather not.
- Great. Be careful with the equipment, but not too careful. You'll need to damage the ghosts before you can effectively capture them. Good luck.
- Awesome! I ain't afraid of no ghosts!
- Well, it's complicated. All you need to know is that you push the buttons, knock the wind out of the ghost, then when it's gasping, you suck it up into the collector.
- Count me in! Let's do it.
- Wow. That does sound complicated. I'm leaving now.
- You look like a worthy lab worker. Although, if I had to guess, I'd say your magical abilities could still use some honing to meet my standards. My colleague, if you can call him that, Jenk is a charr. I suppose if I can work with him, I can work with you.
- Why are you working with him?
- I'm not your problem. Good-bye.
- Because it's crowded out here with all these ghosts, and my data points to something big on the horizon. Besides, Jenk appears to have invented something no one else, to date, has done. His iron containment unit looks very promising.
- What does the containment unit do?
- Keep your eyes on that horizon. See you.
- It hinders ghosts from resetting every morning. It withdraws them from the sample, so to speak. Whereas most ghosts keep coming back after you kill them, these remain trapped in the containment unit where they can't hurt anyone.
- How useful. Thanks for the explanation.
- You do realize that none of this would work if it weren't for my invention. Jenk calls it a ghost collector, but then I wouldn't expect more than that from him. Personally, I call it a spectral absterger.
- Okay, I'm going to go now.
- When you capture a ghost's essence with the spectral absterger, the essence travels through spectral space to the repository and is caught there until we transfer it to the main containment unit, where the ghost will be trapped for all eternity.
- For all eternity?
- Wow, that sounds crazy. I'm leaving.
- This assumes, of course, that nothing happens to damage the iron containment unit. As primitive as it is, it must surely have its weaknesses. Frankly, I find it fascinating that it took something so simple as a special iron alloy to keep ghosts locked in place.
- Won't the ghosts just come back the next day?
- Maddy
- Preliminary tests indicate that ghosts cannot travel through Jenk's special iron alloy. I should have figured it out myself, knowing iron's magical properties as well as I do, but it took a simpler mind to boil it down to its bare essentials and make it work.
- I'm curious to see it in action.
- Are you kidding me? Do these Flame Legion shamans realize what they're toying with? Stop them before they crack the unit. If the ghosts get out, they're not going to thank us for trapping them.
- You here to see the containment unit? Everyone wants a peek. The inventor and I are in the same warband, and he's right proud of the thing.
