- Sounds like you deserved your punishment.
- I forgot he doesn't have a sense of humor. I was...a few...seconds late for my shift, and he was about to lop my head off for it. I said, "I'm a soldier, Ref. I kill things...like time."
- I'll do just that.
- Oh! I see that there is. You'd better get down there and help out then.
- Separatists, eh?
- Nope. See you later.
- I hate feeling like I'm being watched. Makes my fur stand on end. You feel it too, right? Bet it's the Separatists. I can feel their seething animosity from here.
- How do you deal with them?
- I believe it contains information about the last time the dragons rose. Its very existence proves they can be beaten back. Our enemy wants to keep that information from us.
- How does the dragon even know about it? Zhaitan doesn't strike me as much of a reader.
- Keep your eyes open. Good-bye.
- This—apparel—offends—my—optics.
- Without stealth, they've got nothing. Shine a light on these sneaky wretches, and they scatter like rabbits. If you're willing, go shake a few bushes, and see what tumbles out. If it's a Separatist, put it out of my misery.
- Can you reinforce my armor?
- I have some supplies here I'd be willing to part with...for a price.
- Zhaitan knows everything its minions know. One of its corrupted servants, while alive or after death, must have seen the tome.
- Understood. Thanks.
- Separatists don't follow the truce, so we can deal with them as needed. They're as much trouble to their own people as to the legions. They're trying to oil a wheel that fell off ages ago.
- What's that about lightning rods?
- Ooh, devourers can get out of control.
- Good luck with that. See you.
- Another year older and I'm still worrying about the same ol' problems. Between the lightning rods blowing down and the devourers breeding faster than you can say, "rabbits," we've got plenty to do.
- And, devourers multiplying too?
- I feel for ya. See ya.
- The energy in the Brand gets out of control, if we don't ground it. We've put a field of rods out that attract the energy and sink it so it doesn't do any harm. Trouble is that storms blow through and knock down the rods. We're constantly setting them back up again.
- That sounds worse than toppled lightning rods.
- You've got troubles. Good luck.
- Yeah, we can't keep 'em from breeding. All we can do is destroy their eggs before they hatch. It'd be sweet if we could tame them all, but they make them faster than we can control them.
- You actually want humans to back you up?
- Applies random conditions
- It's good to see capable soldiers working together. We've got a problem with ogres, and I'm here to invite a few Ebonhawke troops to back up the legions. You got the time to help?
- The merchant's cart is filled with exotic trinkets.
- We're short-handed. Not the ideal situation, but joining forces with the Ebon Vanguard has helped in our battle with the ogres. But we still need any assistance you can offer.
- Winning is everything. I understand.
- Less "want" than "need." Between Steeleye Span pulling reinforcements from our ranks and our war with the ogres, we can either live with them, or die alone.
- An infestation of griffons?
- Sorry. I don't have time right now.
- Oy. I don't suppose you have an itch to do some good, do you? We've got an infestation of griffons.
- Why do you care how many griffons there are?
- That sounds like trouble. I'll help as I can.
- They're worse than rats. They're bigger, meaner, and they breed faster. If we don't do regular culling of their eggs, the griffon population gets out of control. It's not pretty. So, what do you say?
- I see what you mean.
- Two reasons. First, it means fewer attacks on our food stores and patrols. Griffons are a menace. Second, the ogres train them to fight at their sides. We have enough trouble with ogres without having to also fight pet griffons.
- What are you doing standing around, then?
- Are we attacking ogres?
- Sounds like you have it handled.
- Ogres, shmogres. We'll easily defeat them.
- Why aren't you going?
- Point me in the right direction.
- I'll leave it to them. Take it easy.
