• You have to watch your back around here. These portals appear at random. Earlier, one appeared right on top of us.
• And you survived?
• Obviously. It takes a while for them to open fully, so if you can destroy a portal quickly, you don't have to deal with what might come out.
• Maybe you can comfort the other children who are scared.
• I've never faced creatures from the Underworld before. It's hard to know what to expect.
• Have you learned anything so far?
• Not much. They're vicious and destroy without thinking. Thankfully, they don't seem to stay around for very long.
• These spirits aren't like the regular ghosts we deal with.
• How so?
• They don't communicate, they don't appear to have business, and they seem to know that they're dead. It's bizarre.

• Keep an eye on these spirits.
• Hey, yeah! That's a good idea! I'll be the spookiest cub in all of Halloween!
• Sometimes they turn abruptly and deliver their wrath on everyone and everything around.

• When I see the Temple of the Ages, I feel hopeful and sad at the same time.
• I've devoted my life to the gods, but I've never known them like people did in ages past. And I probably never will.
• Sounds tough.
• I can't say I share their devotion to the gods, but I can certainly share these monks' appreciation for beer.
• You don't believe in the gods?
• No, I believe in them. But belief and devotion aren't the same thing. I've seen a lot, adventuring with the Priory, but I have yet to see a god.
• Good point.
• I wonder what the Underworld is really like.
• Do you think you'll ever get to see it?
• In this life? Probably not. Legends say there was once a way for the living to travel there, but those paths have long been closed or forgotten.
• Too bad.
• I don't know how anyone tolerates these conditions.
• You'd rather not be here?
• Of course not! I should be back at the Priory, where it's nice and cool and DRY!

• I wonder what happens to these spirits when we defeat them.
• Shouldn't they just die?
• Can you kill something that's not alive? They probably go back to the Underworld. Hopefully for a long time.
• Yes, hopefully.
• I never thought I'd see so much action on this expedition.

• Very much so. I can't tell for sure, but I think things are getting worse.
• Let's hope not.
• Did you hear that? It sounded like some foul demon sent to slay us and drag us into the Underworld.

• I am excited! It's exciting! I've read about places like this my entire life. My favorite books are about evil places and people venturing into them, and now I finally get to visit one myself!

• Yeah, dark places, where the unnatural is natural, where you discover its secrets by vanquishing horrors. It's just like the stories in my favorite books!
