- I've heard enough of this. Good-bye.
- Was there lots of blood? Did you see her guts? She went down fighting, right?
- No, it's different. Ever since the fahrar, I've been driven to build siege weapons that would shatter Ebonhawke's walls. Part of me feels cheated.
- Are you kidding? There's the Elder Dragons. I'd sure you could use your hardware against them.
- You'll just have to let go. There's always another fight.
- Yeah, can't murder a bunch of people. Must be rough for you.
- Hmph. Yeah. Somebody's gonna choke on my dreams, and it ain't gonna be me.
- I ain't gonna let go of nothing. I'm just going to practice on the dragons for awhile first.
- Big talk for a chump like you. If we didn't have the dragons to deal with, I'd break you like we broke Ascalon.
- I'll believe it when I see it.
- You're lucky. This time last month, we were plagued with mosquitoes. Lousy things got into our fur. Worse than fighting humans.
- What's your mission here, soldier?
- How'd they get along with your fleas?
- Watch yourself. We're under orders to get along.
- Hm. No offense intended. It's just an expression.
- Fair enough. So, what do you do here?
- Point taken.
- This is a scouting outpost. Ever since the delegations formed, we've been gathering intel for them.
- Haha! Nice one. Glad to see some of your species actually have backbones. Maybe I'll buy you a drink sometime.
- Sounds good. What do you do here?
- Only way I'll drink with you is if you're buying.
- Never thought I'd see the military value in trading a battle axe for a pickax, but that's the Brand for you.
- You haven't always been a miner?
- I joined the Sentinels after my warband got wiped out by a Branded siege devourer. I got assigned to a mining detail. Any way I can put a knife to the throat of the Dragonbrand is fine by me.
- How does mining do that?
- Creatures are always pouring out of the Dragonbrand. Scientists at Varimhold are studying Branded ore to find some kind of weakness. Fighting fire with fire, I guess. So, I give them all I can find.
- Separatists and Renegades are everywhere you look. I don't know if the next human or charr I meet is the enemy or not.
- Tell me about the Renegades.
- Tell me about the Separatists.
- You don't have to tell me.
- They can't let go of the war, so they lash out at humans and their fellow charr as well. You never know when they'll strike next, and they'll stop at nothing to kill their target.
- What about the Separatists?
- You do understand I can't spare anyone to protect you? You'd be on your own out there.
- They hate the truce, so they try to disrupt talks through violent tactics. They'll even kill other humans if it meant they could still have a war with the charr.
- What about the Renegades?
- Concern noted, but unnecessary. Frankly, I'm more worried about you Lionguard proceeding without my advice.
- All soldiers have tales of victory and tragedy, but what stories leave out is how much time we spend waiting. We patrol and train to keep sharp, but we can't take real action without orders.
- You sound bitter.
- Don't get me wrong. The work we do for the delegations is important, but I'll be glad when the treaty is signed. All this pagentry will be over and start looking to the future.
- If I die fighting alongside a charr, I worry that my ancestors will never accept me into the Mists.
- You'd rather die fighting against a charr?
- Your people slaughtered my family and nearly destroyed my heritage. I know the truce will do some good, but I don't think I'll ever forgive your kind.
- It's your loss.
- These poor soldiers. They survived war with the charr only to get sick from the pollen blossoming from the recovering flora.
- Here are some of the flowers you requested.
- Can anything be done for them?
- I'll leave you to it.
- The local old folks say there's a peculiar yellow flower that grows down by the lake west of here can cure their fever. The more flowers you bring me the stronger the salve I can make.
- Energy Probe Defender Slayer
- This should be enough to help them back to their units. I've applied the salve to your hands, but it will only last a short time. Administer it to one of the feverish soldiers quickly.
