- Yeah, and just in time too. Scarlet's wounded.
- Right away, Tribune!
- They're on the south side of Steeleye Span, out in the Brand. Use the ramps to get to them.
- Be careful. Just because she's down, doesn't mean she's out.
- I'm grateful for your friendship.
- It's our fort and the only safe bridge across the Brand. We're here to wipe out these Branded creatures and take control of this twisted patch of land.
- All together then? (hiccup)
- We'll return her to the grave.
- This nightmare was carved into the land by the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik. Everything here bears his corrupted mark. Have no mercy when you fight a Branded creature because it won't have any with you.
- All together. Let's finish this for good.
- Tell me about Steeleye Span.
- Who's in charge around here?
- Good, you finally—oh, you're not my relief. Teeth and claws, I could use some shut-eye.
- You've got your work cut out for you. Good luck.
- After the dragon made the Brand, we were cut off from camps in the east. We couldn't let that be, so we built the Span. Now, we struggle daily to keep it open and to push back Branded minions. My warband, the Steel warband, has made it our mission to maintain the Span.
- What's the purpose of the Span?
- Thanks and good luck.
- Tribune Kyranith Steelgrip gives the orders for all the Span. She designed the Span, and our warband named it Steeleye Span. It's corny, but we keep a steel eye out on the area. Those Branded won't get past us.
- Yeah, sure. I'm on my way.
- The word just came through that something's up at Steeleye Span. They're asking for all available soldiers. You available?
- Is this the way to Steeleye Span?
- This one's going. See ya.
- Hey. Glad to see new faces in the mix. Have we met before? Don't matter. Faces come and go.
- Are you connected to that converter out there?
- Don't bother. See you around.
- We're a special Iron Legion task force. We're here to investigate the nature of the Brand and its creatures. We've got numerous experiments in progress. I couldn't even begin to describe them all.
- I appreciate the directions and the warning.
- You've still got a ways to go, though not far. Steeleye Span is north of here. Be careful, though. There are an awful lot of Branded creatures between here and there.
- What do they plan to do with this information?
- Energetic Pulse
- Yeah, that's one of ours. We're analyzing Brand energy. That conductor is actually more like a battery. It collects Brand energy from the air so our engineers can experiment with it.
- Smart. Good luck!
- If we're lucky, the Iron Legion may have a new energy source. My imagination doesn't go far enough to cover all the possible uses we could have for it, if we can tame it. I'll tell you this, though. We'd use it against the dragons, for sure.
- What's Brokentooth Maw?
- So true. See ya.
- I heard they have the mother lode of wurms up by Brokentooth Maw, and the mother of all wurms too. Not Branded either. Just big and biting. Man, some warbands have all the fun.
- Why don't we pull them out?
- I feel for them. See ya.
- It's a fort at the north end of the Brand. The Sharp warband is in charge up there, but the poor slobs are cut off. We can't keep supply lines open to them. I heard they have to eat whatever they can find to keep from starving.
- Why don't you lead the way? We'll be right behind you.
- You gotta respect that. See ya later.
- And give up the Maw? No way. That fort may be old, but it's strategically placed. Besides, I think the Sharp warband would rather die than give up the thing they've fought so long to defend. They're like an old dog with a bone.
