- Vallus's cub? In my camp? I imagined this day might come, but I always expected it'd involve whiskey, shouting, and chicken feathers.
- There are currently %num1% people queued.
- What can you tell me about him?
- Figured you'd track him down, to be honest. Your only living kin. We say our warband's our family, but we never forget bonds of blood. And he didn't forget you, I'm sure of it.
- I have no connection to him. I'm only doing this because I was ordered to.
- We'll see. Or he will. Or you. But that's no business of mine.
- So what can you tell me about him?
- Strong. Solemn. Whatever he ran from—although it was more a walk than a run—it wasn't a ghost. He went northwest. Shrugged a cloak around his shoulders, like he was going someplace he'd need it.
- Watch yourself out there, soldier. Fight like I heard you did when you saved Hasta and Rurtha, and there's a chance you might survive.
- Right.
- Sorry, soldier...I've not much more to say. Safe travels out there.
- Thanks again for saving us back there. We'd gotten in over our heads—been looking for signs of ghost activity—and didn't even notice they'd set a trap. It's not like us to be so sloppy on the field.
- Even the best warbands make the occasional mistake.
- So what can you tell me about Vallus leaving?
- I wish it was a simple mistake. With Vallus gone and Emer chasing him, we're two souls short. It's got us reeling. And I'm certain Vallus isn't coming back.
- What makes you so certain?
- He hadn't been happy for a while. The non-stop scouting, the endless flare-ups with ghosts, then losing Sagitta a few years ago...it's like he disconnected. From us, from the world...everything.
- Sounds like he was a poor soldier.
- Can you tell me anything else about him?
- That just shows you didn't know him. He was an incredible soldier, right up to the day he left. I can't say I was surprised when he took off. As for the others...you'll have to ask them.
- Damage with condition
- Nothing that'd help you. If you find him...well, he knew the risks when he walked away. Do what you have to.
- I will. Thanks.
- I said all about it that I care to, cub. Good luck finding the crud.
- Right. Good-bye.
- Vallus's cub. Huh. Flay me, I shoulda known—you look too much like him for it to be chance.
- That coward left us is what. Last battle we fought, I got knocked out by one of those blasted ghosts. When I came to and the battle was over...he was long gone.
- Do you know where he might have gone?
- Why did he leave?
- I remember him sniffin' around some kind of caravan that came through charr lands. Dunno where from. That's it.
- Don't know, don't care. He left, and that's enough. You don't leave your warband. Any charr knows that. Better hope you do, too.
- My warband was wiped out, save two. I'm not the best one to ask those questions.
- Maybe you got a weird take on warbands, then. The Mane's been together since the fahrar. Anybody who left, did it by dying in battle—like Sagitta. All except for Vallus, roast his hide.
- Good luck, soldier. Be it good news or bad, I hope you find some answers.
- I heard you saved Hasta and Rurtha from ghosts. That was a kind thing you did. Though not surprising from Vallus's blood.
- He didn't sound like the type to care about others.
- Didn't laugh much—not since his mate died. Strike me, that would've been your mother, wouldn't it? Sorry. Uh, he always was the solemn type. Stubborn. Probably why he was interested in the norn.
- Interested in the norn? Why?
- Those tall mice? Why?
- If by that you mean Hasta's injury in that battle, I can tell you Vallus didn't leave until he knew Hasta was breathing. But off the battlefield...I'm not sure anyone can tell you that.
- The why of it wasn't something he shared. All I know is that he went to more than his share of moots and was always trading stories with the norn.
- So, no explanation at all?
- Not my place to say anything more'n that. His life with us is over. Whether his life as a charr is over...well, I guess you'll find out when you track him down.
- Right. Thanks.
- So, are we all done here?
- I've got the information I need. Seems like he went drinking in norn lands.
- Not yet. I'll return later.
- That blasted caravan—I know exactly where it was headed. Meet me at Vendrake's Homestead, in the norn lands. We'll find him there; I'm sure of it.
- I am Urro, sometimes known as Urro the Great! I'm surprised you haven't heard of me. I'm the greatest historian the world has ever known.
- Thanks again for your help back there. They caught us flat-footed, and that doesn't happen very often.
