- Anything you do to protect the area or recall Owl's teachings honors her. Local wildlife still suffers from Owl's loss, and helping the sick and wounded would have pleased Owl.
- That's not a bad idea. The sacred owls prefer to hunt for themselves, though, so I doubt they'd take another's kill. Maybe you could steer prey in their direction.
- What else can I do to help out?
- Hey. Several Sons of Svanir just left Svannijem Hold, headed toward the old Owl lodge. They had hammers and axes, and one of them looked especially strong. I'm worried they're up to no good.
- Odd. Show me where they went.
- Here's where I last saw them. Thanks for looking into this.
- Hmm, I wonder where the Ulgaldis has gone? No matter. That old one knows this area like no one else. I'm sure she'll be fine.
- I'm not so sure. Show me where she went.
- You're probably right.
- I'm guessing she went down to the abattoir. But really, she should be fine. Right? Oh, now you're making me worry.
- With the Lion Road blocked this detour is taking travelers, and important supplies we depend on, right through jotun territory. We could use help pacifying the jotun so the shipments can come through.
- I'm in. Just show me where to go.
- The detour runs through Jotun's Vista to the west.
- I'll look into it. Thanks for the info.
- They were coming from Snowdrift Haven. Corrupted ice is blocking the main road, though. They'd probably have to detour through Jotun's Vista to the west, and the jotun aren't friendly.
- I'll see what I can find out.
- Yah hey there. Are you looking for something to do? With ice blocking the Lion Road, we've been forced to create a detour through jotun territory and could use help keeping the path safe.
- Sounds good. Where should I start?
- Tell me about the jotun.
- Tell me about Snowhawk Landing.
- Go west into Jotun's Vista. The trick is to keep the markers lit so people don't wander into a jotun camp. You could also check around for jotun weapons. Better in our hands than theirs.
- That's the only base the Lionguard have to work out of around here, since the icebrood took our haven up north. Hunters, travelers, and traders all rely on us to keep this place safe.
- %num1% match[pl:"matches"] won as a thief.
- Jotun are strong, cranky, territorial, and conceited. Normally I could respect that, but they think they should be fawned over like human kings. Even more annoying, they've been attacking traders.
- How can I help with the jotun?
- I guard these roads, warding off danger and protecting resources for local crafters. But for every threat I conquer, two more appear. Soon it will no longer be safe to travel here.
- Boss Thumper XXVI
- There are several famous crafters who might need assistance. And keep an eye out for Jormag's forces—the town is a target for raids.
- Tell me about Jormag's forces.
- There's a mass of corrupted ice west of Soderhem Steading, and Jormag's icebrood are pouring out of it! We have to destroy the ice and secure the area!
- I'll help. Show me where to go.
- A kodan came here looking for help, saying Jormag's ice corrupted his friend. I sent him toward the homesteads. Can you see how he's doing?
- Sure. Show me where he is.
- He'll be fine on his own.
- Thanks for helping out. I can usually handle things on my own, but sometimes it's wiser to ask for an extra pair of hands.
- I do my best. Take care.

- Detour Marker
- %str1%! I've heard the traveling merchants talking and they all agree that things seem a bit better recently. I even have a few extra items to barter, if you're interested.
- It was my pleasure.
- Damaged Writing
- This book is too fragile to handle, but a few lines are legible. "All the wisdom of nature can be learned from the Spirits. But beware! The ice dragon's lessons carry a heavy price."
- Leave the book alone.
- You can only make out a few lines. "And Owl said to Wolf, 'Brother, all your hunting is for naught if your family dines alone.' And Wolf returned to his cubs, for he knew that Owl was wise."
- "To hear Bear or Wolf is to know fear, for their enemies cannot overcome them. To hear Owl is to know peace, for her enemies will never hear her coming."
- The weathered text is difficult to make out. "...there came a cry that carried not through the air, but through the heart of every norn. It was then that we knew Owl was lost to us."
- "Olef asked his mother why his bowl was always filled last. She replied, 'The finest hunter can't feed her family unless she is fed first. In return, hunters leave no bowl empty. This, we learned from Owl.'"
- "Olrun called upon the Spirits for advice, and Owl replied, 'To build a family on strength alone is to carve a nest of stone.' Then Olrun was pleased, for she had chosen a kindly mate."
- You find the crumbling remains of a blessing. "Owl, we call upon you so that we might live by your wisdom. We will hunt silently and well, so that our homes will never know danger or starvation."
- You find a page with a comical image of a fox crashing into a sleeping bear while an owl flies overhead. The caption reads, "Those who charge blindly forward are likely to be surprised."
