- Thank you very much. This will help me quite a bit.
- Sure, no problem.
- Are you sure you want to give them all to me right now? You can use them to make more trades.
- Yes, just take them all, please.
- Take ten.
- I don't know that I'm the first hylek in the Priory, but the steward has been very kind to me. He thought my background in Caledon might come in handy when we reach the Maguuma Jungle.
- Good luck to the three of you.
- Ahai. Were you sent out here by Steward Gixx to join our survey expedition?
- That's an old Elonan greeting, right? Are you from the Ossan Quarter, back in the Reach?
- Ahai. Good to have someone of your stature out here rediscovering Dry Top along with us.
- This region was the focus of my scholarly research, though it's another thing entirely to be here in person. What can I answer for you?
- Take five.
- On second thought, I'll hold onto them for a bit.
- Terminal
- She went down, and she's never getting up again.
- What do you know about Dry Top?
- I can't wait to see this.
- Now that Commander Landon's dead, what will your father do?
- What can he do? Not much. The chantry's location is a well-guarded secret, and Landon only found us because he followed us the whole way.
- So, if you stay here, Minister Caudecus can't find you?
- Exactly. I'm perfectly safe—and I think sending Landon's body back to Divinity's Reach is exactly the kind of message my father needs.
- You are your father's daughter, Demmi.
- Got it.
- These arid wastes eventually give way to the Maguuma Jungle, which we're hoping to reach on our mission. It looks as if there's been a great deal of seismic upheaval since this area was more traveled.
- I saw you sketching that tree in your journal. Can you tell me anything about the local flora and fauna?
- I have a theory that they're reaching all the way here from the Maguuma Jungle, but I have no idea what could be driving them to attack. They're certainly disturbing.
- Everything here seems as harsh as the climate. We've seen nasty elementals that the locals call dust mites buzzing around in the sandstorms. There's also a local type of devourer worth avoiding.
- That's right. My ancestors fled Kourna generations ago. Growing up with all the old family tales of our lost estate inspired my lifelong interest in ancient history.
- Hey, you're the one who took down Scarlet in LA! Scholars are racing each other to publish books about you back at the Priory. Guess we're not the only ones Gixx sent to survey Dry Top.
- Hey, you're the one who took down Scarlet in LA! They're all racing each other to publish books about you back at the Priory. Imagine running into you on our survey mission out here in Dry Top.
- We haven't been here long, but I'm happy to share what we know about this place.
- What do you know about these Zephyrites?
- What can you tell me about that town over there?
- They say they left the Labyrinthine Cliffs and headed out west, and that something brought their sky ship down just as we arrived here.
- Any idea why they'd be flying over this remote region?
- I've spent a lot of time getting to know one of the residents. She says they mine copper to trade with some bandit group up north, so they can keep their remote town supplied.
- "Getting to know," huh? I'm curious, has she ever mentioned seeing a strange sylvari around town?
- Sorry, they dodge our questions about where they were headed or why.
- Sorry, the subject's never come up. You should ask Martinus—he runs the town saloon.
- Susie
- I saw the way you two were looking at each other.
- Well, you know, Amoxtli is one fine looking hylek.
- (giggle)
- No. That woman we were interviewing in town earlier. Are you and she...
- (gasp) Are you accusing me of fraternizing with the locals?
- Just don't forget we're on a mission, here.
- Hey, it's a mission of exploration, right? I'm just...exploring.
- (laugh)
- Thanks.
- Do you think it's a bad omen that a sky-ship crashed just as we arrived in this area?
