- The Tree Singers were singing until their final seconds—swords burst through chests as their final breaths came out in high, painful notes. Then the Ministry's forces came with fire, which engulfed the Forever Tree. It wasn't necessary—the tree would've died eventually anyway without the Singers' song to sustain it, but the Ministry wanted the tree to die as quickly as possible. Because as the tree started to burn, its Juggernaut, which was still fighting off the Ministry's forces as best it could, staggered. It fell to the ground, weakened, and the Ministry's cowardly forces overwhelmed it, hacking at it with their swords, even though it was already turning to ash with its Forever Tree. The glowing blue light in its chest gradually dimmed until finally it winked out. And then the fire grew out of control, and everyone ran—everyone but me. I stayed and watched as the Forever Tree, and the Juggernaut, and the Tree Singers all burned together, the way they'd lived, their life forces all bound together as one. It was a terrible thing. A terrible thing.

- Another letter from E today. Captain Theo Ashford succumbed to his wounds after the attack on Dragon Bash... The festivities are ongoing, so the Lionguard are desperate to keep this investigation under wraps. E recommended that I stop by the Dead End Bar in Divinity's Reach to meet with Detective Marjory Delaqua. Never heard of her, but E's intel is good. I headed her way. I ran into Logan Thackeray inside the tavern; he was already speaking with Marjory about the case. She was accompanied by Lady Kasmeer Meade, Marjory's assistant (much to Logan's surprise). Ashford's family is looking into the incident, and they're afraid the Lionguard is too busy keeping things quiet to get any meaningful work done. Marjory and Kasmeer agreed to help.

- I was invited to attend the Queen's Jubilee, where I met up with Rox and Braham to watch the festivities. Queen Jennah used the fanfare to introduce her watchknights—gilded mechanisms, crafted to protect the people of Divinity's Reach. Logan Thackeray valiantly stepped into the arena to spar with one. The whole thing was an odd show of force—on one hand, Anise was displaying her resourcefulness and wit in commissioning the creation of these mechanical wonders, and on the other we had the queen's most loyal defender and confidant who was likely trying to prove that he was still Her Majesty's most ardent sword hand. Midway through the demonstration, the watchknight malfunctioned and started going haywire, leaving Logan overwhelmed and the crowd distressed. Before we could intervene, the Aetherblades, the murderous pirates behind the Dragon Bash incident, ambushed us. A hooded figure mocked us from the sidelines; Rox attempted to snipe her, but she was fast. We eventually reached Logan and quelled the frenzied machine, but the hooded figure leapt back into the arena and mocked us again. Logan tried to strike her down, but his efforts were ineffective. The figure threatened to return before taking her leave. Jennah refused to let someone dampen her message of resilience. Despite the city being on high alert, the festivities continued—with additional protection from the Seraph.

- It's finally over. We've reached a settlement, and I will not have to spend one more minute staring at Chul-Moo's miserable tanuki face. I hear his little side project is now calling themselves "the Jade Brotherhood." I used to think he was such a brilliant businessman, but now I see him for what he really is—a small-minded man with an even smaller bag of tricks. Acquiring the Xunlai brand was the last good idea he had for the company. I'm not so sure taking on the name of a bunch of long-dead mobsters will be quite as effective, but what do I know? I am, after all, a "visionless husk of a woman with a stick lodged so high up my rear end, it's a wonder I can bend at the waist." It almost didn't happen. At the last moment, his miserable mother got involved, insisting that she too was owed a payout for her "financial contributions to the company's early prototypes." Of course, Matron Park didn't anticipate my extensive recordkeeping—the look on her face when I produced the exact card in which she clearly referred to her contributions as a gift "for the future of my beautiful boy." I will treasure the memory. Gi-Moon and I ate so much janchi-guksu in celebration. He fixed it just the way Mother used to. Nothing has ever tasted so good.
