**Entry 6** Deep in the grove, not too far from my refuge, I've located a shrub filled with bright-blue flowers. The pigment is remarkable and immediately drew my eye. In many cases, such a color should cause alarm, as blue often means poison. An easy way to test its volatility would be to rub a pulverized petal across some exposed flesh. If the flesh reacts, you've got a winner. I did so using this flora, and behold, I've quite the rash. Exactly what I searched for. If I add just a touch of this pigment to the concoction, I'm hoping that the flower's toxins will battle against the isolated pockets of the beetle's. I returned to camp and used just a small fraction of my updated concoction on the gwyldell to gauge my progress. It was not a fan. I was worried that its cries would give up our position, and I had to use a sedative to calm it. But despite the creature's pain, I did observe some improvement. Unfortunately, I worry that using enough of the concoction to completely cure the ailment would effectively...terminate the specimen. And until I'm healed, I'm not ready to be rid of it yet.
