The Orrian sculptor Malchor is understood to have designed the statues of the human pantheon found in most sites of worship, although evidence suggests Grenth's representation may have been the work of an anonymous later artist. Only Dwayna's statues were significantly transformed by Zhaitan's corruption; one possible explanation is that Malchor's spirit—which has unusual influence over the statues near his place of death—might have provided a conduit. Zhaitan's emotional motivations remain impenetrable, but it may also have chosen to single out symbols of life worship for corruption, much as it warped the religious beliefs of Risen temple leaders.
